PR-21249 Great South Road and Pookeno Road intersection upgrade
We're upgrading an intersection to improve safety and functionality.
Our team will design and manage the construction, including a roundabout. The project involves wider traffic lanes, mountable kerbs, and 0.5m shoulders. We'll also provide shared paths and coordinate with new developments.
Project Updates
September 2024
Work is underway and due for completion in early October 2024. Final phase and traffic management changes commenced WC 26/08/24.
Upcoming Night Works:
The Waikato District Alliance is about to start laying a final asphalt road surface, which brings the new Pokeno Roundabout project nearer to completion. The location of this phase of the project will affect you as a full road closure is required.
These nightworks are scheduled to take place from 8pm Sunday 29 September 2024 and will take approximately 1.5 weeks to complete, weather permitting.
We will be closing the Great South Road/Pokeno Road intersection between the hours of 8pm and 6am, on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights. During this time all traffic will be detoured.
Outside of these hours (including Friday and Saturday) the road will be open under temporary speed restrictions through the work zones.
